Job summary

A leading NHS Trust in the UK is seeking an Estates Engineering Maintenance Technician to support various hospital sites. This role involves servicing, testing, and repairing complex electrical and mechanical systems. Ideal candidates will have an HNC/HND in Engineering and experience as a maintenance technician, particularly with an electrical bias. The position requires effective communication and teamwork, with a commitment to flexible working hours. A recruitment payment is offered initially, increasing after 12 months.

Job description
Role Overview

The University of North Midlands is recruiting an Estates Engineering Maintenance Technician. The role is within a large Estates team, supporting high level service to County Hospital and other UHNM sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Service, test, verify, diagnose, repair and calibrate advanced electrical and electronic installations, mechanical systems, plumbing, engineering plant, BMS and steriliser/decontamination equipment.
  • Assist with statutory testing of decontamination plant and equipment (training provided).
  • Provide support to tradesmen within Estates Department.
  • Participate in on‑call system and work flexible hours across UHNM sites.
Qualifications & Experience
  • HNC/HND in Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Experience as a maintenance technician with electrical bias.
  • Strong team worker, effective communicator.
  • Willingness to work 37.5 hrs per week, Monday‑Friday 8am‑4pm.
Compensation

Initial £1,500 recruitment and retention payment for the first 12 months, rising to 8% thereafter.
