# Environmental Health Officer## Job IntroductionWe have an exciting permanent opportunity for an Environmental Health Officer to join our Private Rented Sector Housing Regulation and Fire Safety Team. This role is ideal for someone who is practical, motivated, and confident in taking responsibility for their work, with a genuine commitment to improving housing conditions and residents’ lives.You will play a key role in our work across the private rented sector. This includes addressing poor housing conditions, taking enforcement action against rogue landlords, dealing with unlicensed premises, and supporting improvements in energy efficiency and fire safety. You will manage your own caseload and make a direct contribution to raising housing standards across the borough.The role involves inspecting private rented properties, enforcing licensing requirements, carrying out HHSRS assessments, identifying hazards and required works, and serving statutory notices where necessary. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date case records using the council’s digital systems.You will need a good working knowledge of private sector housing enforcement, including housing defects, repair standards, and relevant legislation. We are particularly keen to hear from applicants with experience in private sector housing or a similar regulatory or enforcement role.You will be supported on a day-to-day basis by Senior Officers and the Team Manager.
