Purpose of the Role

We are looking to bring on board an Engineering Manager to lead, manage and inspire a high-performing engineering team. This role combines technical leadership and people management to deliver high-quality products, ensure operational excellence, and support the professional growth of our engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and coach engineers to achieve professional growth and high performance
  • Build a strong, inclusive, and collaborative engineering culture
  • Conduct regular 1:1s, provide feedback, and support career development plans
  • Oversee hiring, onboarding, and retention of engineering talent
Project & Delivery Management
  • Oversee the full software development lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery of features and products
  • Collaborate with product and business teams to translate requirements into technical deliverables
  • Establish and refine development processes, ensuring best practices in agile, DevOps, and CI/CD are followed
  • Monitor project progress, resolve issues, and adjust priorities as needed
Technical Direction & Quality
  • Provide technical guidance, architectural oversight, and strategic input
  • Ensure solutions meet performance, security, and scalability standards
  • Promote engineering best practices, including code quality, testing, and documentation
  • Drive continuous improvement in processes, tools, and workflows
What we\'re looking for
  • Extensive experience within the software development realm with some solid experience in a leadership or management role
  • Strong knowledge of modern software development practices, programming languages, and cloud platforms (we\'re not expecting our Engineering Manager to be hands on in the code, but we are looking for someone who comes from this world)
  • Experience managing agile development teams (ideally of 10-15+ people)
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Experience working in an SME or startup environment, particularly in a growth and/or change phase
Other information

We operate a hybrid working policy, with 3 days a week at our office on Fleet Street (Central London) and 2 days remote.
