About the Role

The British Museum is hiring a director to oversee their Energy Centre Programme. This is a pivotal position responsible for leading one of the museum's most transformative infrastructure programmes.

About You

We are looking for a seasoned leader with a degree in a relevant technical discipline and chartered status. You should have extensive experience delivering large-scale infrastructure programmes, ideally in heritage or public sector environments, overseeing governance, finance, and managing large teams.

Key areas of Responsibility
  • Hold ultimate accountability for the successful delivery of the Energy Centre Programme, ensuring agreed objectives and outcomes are met.
  • Provide leadership and oversight, maintaining plans and ensuring delivery to scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards.
  • Ensure robust governance, financial control, risk management, and compliance with government standards and reporting requirements.
  • Lead the delivery of complex construction and technical works, ensuring safety, quality, and compliance throughout the programme lifecycle.
  • Act as the senior point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, fostering collaboration and securing support for programme success.
  • Report on programme performance and impact to senior leadership, trustees, and external bodies.
