Job summary

A forward-thinking Grammar School in Sittingbourne is seeking an experienced Estates Manager to lead the management of the school estate. You will ensure that the buildings and grounds are safe, compliant, and well-maintained while maximizing value for money and income generation. The ideal candidate has a strong background in estates or property management, particularly in an educational context. Post: Estates Manager
Grade: KSG £34,421 - £38,304
Responsible to: School Business Manager
Start date: March 2026
Working hours / package: 37 hours per week, all year-round contract. Annual leave allowance of 30 days + bank holidays. Access to private medical insurance.

We are seeking an experienced and proactive School Estates Manager to lead the strategic and operational management of our school estate in line with the Department for Education’s Good Estate Management for Schools (GEMS) framework.

This is a key role ensuring that our buildings and grounds are safe, compliant, well maintained and fit for purpose, while also maximising value for money and income generation through effective management of school lettings delivered via an external

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • Experience in estates, facilities or property management (ideally within an education or public sector environment).
  • Strong knowledge of health & safety and statutory compliance.
  • Experience managing contractors, budgets and building projects.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.

  • A commitment to safeguarding and providing a safe learning environment for students.
