Overview

JR PAT Testing is an expanding PAT and Compliance Company currently looking for engineers to join our team in Bournemouth. We are offering self-employed positions with flexible hours, making it possible for those interested to work either part-time or full-time. Although we understand that some may travel further afield, we require that all applicants have a reasonable commuting distance of Bournemouth or closer.

Responsibilities

• Carry out portable appliance testing (PAT) across various sites, ensuring electrical safety and compliance.
• Test appliances such as microwaves, kettles, computers, and other equipment using appropriate instruments.
• Inform users of test results and explain why certain appliances may be unfit for use.
• Record findings in a PAT test report book or electronic system and provide copies to employers.
• Complete any required paperwork such as completion certificates and checklists.
• Stay organized and efficient while traveling between locations, either solo or as part of a team.

Qualifications & Requirements

• City & Guilds 2377 PAT qualification (prerequisite). If you are intending to take the course, we will accept applicants who have or are about to book it.
• Reasonable commuting distance to Bournemouth or the ability to travel nationally as required.
• Own transport and testing equipment; ability to maintain up-to-date gear and adhere to regulations.
• Reliable, honest with a can-do attitude.

Compensation & Work Arrangement

Potential earnings of up to £20,000 to £60,000 per year on a pro-rata basis depending on rate per appliance, number of tests, and job dynamics. Roles vary from one-day projects to long-term contracts.

Location

Bournemouth. We operate on a national basis with engineers capable of traveling as needed.

Typical Day

A typical day starts with packing tools and equipment into the van, proceeding to the first site, and performing PAT testing on appliances. You will use various test instruments to assess safety and may need to explain results to site users. You will maintain records and prepare required documentation as tests are completed.
