Regulatory Technologist - Manchester - Household
An established UK-based manufacturing organisation is looking to appoint a Regulatory Technologist into a key compliance-focused role supporting household and detergent products.
This opportunity would suit either:
- regulatory professional with hands‑on experience in manufacturing, technical, quality or production environments, or
- product development / laboratory chemist seeking to transition into a regulatory‑focused role while still applying formulation and technical expertise.
The role sits within a wider technical function and works closely with R&D, operations, manufacturing and quality teams to ensure products remain compliant, safe and fit for purpose throughout their lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory & Compliance
- Classify mixtures under CLP, review labels and author or review Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Prepare and maintain PCN submissions and UFI codes.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with REACH requirements, including supplier documentation, substance reviews and monitoring of restrictions and SVHC updates.
- Maintain compliance with the Detergents Regulation (ingredient disclosure, allergen labelling, biodegradability requirements).
- Prepare and maintain regulatory documentation, declarations and technical files.
- Respond to regulatory and technical queries from internal stakeholders, customers and suppliers.
- Monitor regulatory developments and communicate impacts to relevant teams.
Technical & Product Support
- Apply formulation knowledge to support troubleshooting, reformulations and product improvements.
- Review raw materials, assess alternatives and support validation activities.
- Support manufacturing and technical teams during scale‑up, investigations and corrective actions.
- Provide technical input to ensure product changes remain aligned with regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to discussions around VOC considerations, aerosols (where relevant) and product performance.
Documentation & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain and improve SOPs, workflows and technical documentation.
- Ensure documentation meets regulatory, customer and internal quality standards.
- Contribute to ongoing improvement of technical and compliance processes.
About You
Essential
- Working knowledge of CLP, REACH and the Detergents Regulation.
- Experience authoring or critically reviewing Safety Data Sheets.
- Practical understanding of PCN submissions and UFI codes.
- Chemistry background gained through regulatory, technical, product development, laboratory or manufacturing roles.
- Experience with household, detergent or cleaning products.
- Strong attention to detail and clear written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable
- Experience using regulatory or formulation software for SDS / PCN management.
- Knowledge of VOC requirements or aerosol compliance.
- Exposure to claims substantiation, safety assessments or customer compliance documentation.
- Experience supporting cross‑functional teams or multiple stakeholders.
