Job description

Lymm High School in Cheshire is seeking a Level 2-qualified swimming teacher to join our Leisure Centre team. The swimming teacher will teach people of various ages and abilities, including adults, to develop swimming skills, technique and confidence in the water in a safe environment.

Qualifications

• Teaching Swimming: SEQ Level 2 Teaching Swimming Qualification or ASA Level 2 Award in Teaching Aquatics (QCF).
• Must hold a Swim England Qualifications Level 2 Teaching Swimming Qualification or STA Level 2 Certificate in Teaching Swimming.

Contract

• Type: Casual
• Hours of Duty: Variable throughout Monday – Thursday evening (Hours will include Tuesday 4 pm – 7 pm and Thursday 4 pm – 8 pm). Additional opportunities available to cover as required, learn to swim lessons which run Monday – Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings. Further regular teaching opportunities will arise in the future.

Main Duties

• To be a positive role model, creating a positive and fun environment in which to motivate and encourage children and adults to participate in swimming.
• Deliver lessons ensuring adherence to the scheme of work.
• Ensure safe provision of all equipment and ensure it is used correctly.
• Identify participants' abilities and encourage them to reach their full potential.
• Demonstrate swimming techniques.
• Correct faults in swimming techniques and identify ways to improve performance.
• Regularly assess each participant's ability and progress, marking off on our assessment sheets weekly.

• Punctual, flexible and reliable.
• Able to deal with candidates in a calm and professional manner.
• Well organised.
• Work on own initiative as well as part of a team.

Skills

• Enthusiastic and positive attitude towards swimming.
• Good communicator.
