Join us as a Junior Network Engineer at our Portsmouth site, where you will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology in partnership with some of the most brilliant minds.

We are looking for a Junior Network Engineer to contribute to the LAND ISTAR programme delivering a flexible and agile system of systems that will enable the Army from 2035 and beyond to FIND the enemy across all the domains it will operate in.

Responsibilities
  • Responding to technical support calls from end users of computers and software applications
  • Setting up and installing new computers, networks and software and following work instructions to change components
  • Installing updates and patches to software and hardware applications
  • Diagnosing and fixing network problems and hardware or software faults
  • Maintain network connectivity and accurately record changes
  • Fault finding network and hardware issues
Essential experience
  • Experience of working within an IT service desk/help desk environment
  • WINTEL, VMware and implementation experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of the design, implementation and troubleshooting of Hierarchical IP Subnetting and Routing protocols including OSPF and BGP
  • Knowledge of routers, switches and firewalls
  • Professional interpersonal/communication skills to convey technical information
  • Positive attitude and determination to see issues addressed successfully
Essential qualifications
  • Holds Networking certification e.g. CCNP or similar

This role is 37 hours per week based at Portsmouth. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected.
