About The Role

As aMaterials Scientist, you willbe responsible fortheongoing research, development and testingunderpinning the profilometry-based indentation plastometry(PIP)technique.You’llcollaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovativenew features, enhance existingscientificunderstanding, andimprove the efficacy of the PIP technique across a range of materials.

This rolecovers a range of materials testingactivities, from sampleselection and preparation, experimental design, data analysis, and disseminationof findings. You willsolve practical challenges,provide data to inform productimprovements, andhelpensure our products meet technical and customer requirements.

You should have a practical, flexible, and self-motivated approach to your work, and feel comfortable operating in a dynamic, fast-paced start-up environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare specimensformechanical testingand metallography.
  • Conduct experimentsandcollect data in a reliable and repeatable manner.
  • Analyse data using standard tools,ensuring accuracy and consistency of analysis.
  • Producepresentations and reports forinternal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain lab equipmentand ensure consumables are promptly replenished.
  • Lead individual tasks within projects, ensuring time, quality and cost requirements are met.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’sdegree in arelevantfield such asMaterials Science or Materials Engineering.
  • Experiencewith metallographic sample preparationandreliable data collection.
  • Familiarity with mechanical tension testing.
  • Experience creatingclear andconcise scientific reports and presentations for stakeholders.
  • Experience withFinite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Proficiencywith Python or similarfor data analysis and visualization.
