This position is pivotal in ensuring efficient and compliant fuel delivery across a global cruise fleet.

Description

Summary

Lead and execute both strategic and operational aspects of marine fuel and lubricants procurement for a global cruise fleet. Develop supplier strategy, negotiate contracts, manage risk, and ensure timely, compliant fuel delivery at optimal cost. Integrate sustainability initiatives and alternative fuels, while maintaining high standards of operational execution and documentation.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement fuel procurement strategies across key bunker regions; manage supplier portfolio and performance.
  • Negotiate multi-year agreements (premiums, indices, delivery terms, sustainability clauses) and tactical terms (uplift windows, barge fees).
  • Execute daily fuel purchases, convert demand plans into POs, and schedule barge deliveries.
  • Monitor global fuel markets and recommend timing/volume adjustments.
  • Ensure compliance with IMO 2020/emissions rules, SOPs, and documentation standards.
  • Integrate alternative fuels (LNG, biofuels, methanol) into procurement plans and align with emissions targets.
  • Track and report KPIs: cost savings, supplier OTD/spec quality, deviation rates, and sustainability milestones.
  • Liaise with cross-functional teams (Marine Ops, Energy Management, Vessel Ops, Scheduling, AP, Legal) to resolve delivery issues and optimize supply plans.
  • Maintain accurate order files, BDNs, compliance documentation, and support QBRs and corrective actions.
  • Lead the procurement and purchasing of non-fuel marine consumables and operational supplies (e.g., lubricants, chemicals, deck and engine spares, safety equipment, and technical stores).
  • Develop supplier strategies, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely, compliant delivery of all marine-related goods at optimal cost.
  • Collaborate with Marine Operations, Technical, and Supply Chain teams to forecast demand, optimize inventory, and support vessel readiness for guest operations.
  • Track and report KPIs for cost savings, supplier performance, delivery accuracy, and compliance with cruise industry standards.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Supply Chain, Finance, Business, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • 7–10+ years in fuel procurement, energy trading, or marine fuels purchasing; cruise/marine industry experience highly desirable.
  • Strong negotiation, financial modeling, market analytics, supplier coordination, and documentation skills.
  • Experience with ERP/PO systems, market data, BI dashboards, and bunker ops tools.
