In this role, you will assist a lady with Down Syndrome and Autism, engaging in activities she enjoys like music and day trips. The role requires a compassionate and patient individual who holds a UK driving license and has access to a car. Work hours vary from 9am to 9pm, Monday to Sunday, including sleepovers on weekends. This position is essential for providing the necessary support and companionship she needs.
What makes Community Integrated Care a great place to work: Community Integrated Care is one of the UK’s largest health and social care charities. We work hard to enrich the lives of people with many different care needs. It’s exciting and rewarding work, and we’re full of pride and passion for what we do.
We are currently recruiting for a Bank/Casual Female Support Worker for a role in one of our services in Thurso.
In this role, you will support a lady with Down Syndrome and Autism Spectrum Disorder, who lives at home with her dad. The lady we support loves music, dancing and singing and would love someone with similar interests to support her. She enjoys a daily picnic, going out on day trips and spending time with her dad and brother, both of whom are very important to her.
The lady we support has a fear of dogs, so requires patience, compassion and reassurance from her staff. She prefers to go out into the community in the car due to her unease with dogs, so a UK driving licence and access to own car is essential for this role.
We provide support from 9am - 9pm from Monday to Thursday. On weekends, we provide support from 9am - 9pm, as well as a sleepover on Friday and Saturday night.
Sometimes the people we support really need a male or female person to support them. For this particular role, a female colleague is required. This is a genuine occupational requirement as defined by the Equality Act 2010.
I like to be supported by people who respect me and my homes, but who also like to have fun!
I like people who are reliable and honest, so I can build trust and know that you have my best interests at heart.
It’s important that you can communicate well with me and work well within our team to ensure my routines are maintained.
Here at Community Integrated Care we aim to be a warm, welcoming and inclusive employer, where all colleagues feel they belong. We want to be an organisation that is truly fair and equal to all – where individual diversity is valued, unique characteristics celebrated and everyone feels able to bring their true selves to work.
By encouraging and embracing a range of diverse backgrounds, experiences, capabilities and viewpoints, we will build a stronger, richer, more vibrant workforce, which reflects the people we support, and the communities in which we work. It helps us make better decisions, bring fresh ideas and become a true provider and employer of choice.
We have a really clear plan to achieve this called A Place I Belong. This publicly sets out the promises we’ve made to achieving this vision and how we will hold ourselves to account to getting there. You can read more about this by clicking here.
We wish you the very best of luck in your application to joining our charity. Should you require any adjustments during the recruitment process, please feel free to contact recruitment@c-i-c.co.uk.
