A leading environmental consultancy in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced environmental consultant focused on conducting comprehensive impact assessments and developing resettlement plans. The ideal candidate should have over 10 years of experience in environmental and social studies, particularly in railway infrastructure projects, with a preference for familiarity in the Egyptian context. Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills are essential, along with a Bachelor's in Environmental Engineering. Knowledge of Arabic is a plus.
Impact Assessment:
Conduct detailed environmental and social impact assessments to identify potential project risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
Resettlement Planning:
Design and execute resettlement plans that prioritize the needs and rights of affected communities, ensuring fair and respectful treatment throughout the process.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Communicate project impacts and mitigation measures to communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders, fostering trust and collaboration.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure that all project activities adhere to environmental and social regulations and standards, including resettlement policies.
Monitoring and Reporting:
Establish monitoring frameworks to evaluate the effectiveness of mitigation strategies and resettlement plans, and prepare detailed progress reports.
Expert Consultation:
Provide expert advice on environmental and social project aspects, offering strategic solutions to address complex challenges effectively.
We especially encourage applications from individuals with experience in the Egyptian construction sector, with familiarity in local regulations, language, and work culture.
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
Proven expertise in executing resettlement activities and projects.
A minimum of 10 years of experience in environmental and social studies, specifically within railway infrastructure projects.
Practical understanding of EBRD’s environmental and social requirements, along with experience in their successful application.
Strong communication and negotiation skills.
Proficiency in IT and relevant software applications.
Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Arabic is considered an advantage.
