Job description

Job Summary

The Ophthalmology department is offering an Oculoplastic Fellowship training opportunity for 1 year, supervised by 3 specialists. It is open to UK and international candidates who have completed Ophthalmic Training and are considering a career in Ophthalmology. The fellowship will provide extensive clinical and surgical skills to become a subspecialist in Oculoplastic and Lacrimal surgery.

Responsibilities

• 80-85% clinical activity with remainder for research/teaching over 40 hours/week.
• Provide Emergency Eye Care and on‑call cover as resident doctor.
• Diagnose, manage and follow‑up patients under Consultants’ care.
• Coordinate service activity and patient management among all 3 Consultants.
• Perform surgery under supervision and, where appropriate, unsupervised.
• Supervise junior resident doctors’ training.

Qualifications

• Medical degree delivered in English.
• Completion of Ophthalmic Training (CCT or equivalent).
• 3+ years clinical Ophthalmology experience with supporting evidence.
• Fellow of a certified training body equivalent to FRCOphth (e.g., RANZCO, FEBO).
• Full registration with General Medical Council licence.

Experience

• General ophthalmic surgical experience with supporting evidence.
