We are looking for a geotechnical engineer with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering geology, geotechnical engineering, applied geology or civil engineering with a geotechnical focus, with between one year and five years of experience. Candidates with less than one year of experience but relevant placement are welcome.
You will join our busy team in our main Hertfordshire office. The role involves site supervision of ground investigations, report writing and geotechnical analysis, scoping and pricing of new work, and liaison with clients.
You will also join our graduate training programme, depending on level of experience, and benefit from mentoring, structured seminar training, and the opportunity to join our Chartership programme. Regular CPD sessions are provided, and we welcome attendance at external events.
Our work includes ground investigations and geotechnical assessments, strong contaminated land capability, and the provision of interpretive reports for every project. Engineers are expected to be comfortable working on site, organising crews, and spending time in the office writing reports and carrying out foundation designs and ground movement analyses. Early in your career you will have responsibility for your own projects under the guidance of more senior engineers. Experience with geotechnical assessments and numerical modelling would be useful but is not essential, as training and direction will be provided.
We value creative thinking, self‑motivation and a desire to learn; imagination and curiosity are essential, as is an ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing. Our core values are safety, enthusiasm, kindness, integrity, people, innovation, sustainability and community, and we encourage candidates with a positive attitude who are eager to contribute to a collaborative team environment. We welcome individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences who share our commitment to delivering high‑quality work, supporting one another, and making a meaningful impact on the projects and communities we serve.
We offer a competitive salary, funded memberships to professional bodies, wellbeing support, a workplace pension, free gym membership, weekly free fruit, lunch during periodic company meetings, regular social events and a relaxed and friendly working environment.
