Consultant in Respiratory Medicine – York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Posts are available based at both York and Scarborough sites. We invite candidates to apply for a position within the dynamic Respiratory Department at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals. This is an exciting time to join our services as we continue to expand and develop our sub-specialties. We welcome whole-time, part-time, or job-share applications and are committed to supporting flexible job plans. Appointees will initially contribute to the General Medical on-call rota, although in the longer term a dedicated Respiratory on-call rota is envisaged.
We are seeking passionate and motivated doctors who are eager to further develop their chosen sub-specialty interest while providing high-quality care to general respiratory patients in both outpatient and inpatient settings. Successful candidates will be encouraged and supported to develop a specialist interest that complements the existing expertise within the department. We would particularly welcome applicants with an interest in interstitial lung disease, bronchiectasis, cystic fibrosis, sleep and non-invasive ventilation (NIV), respiratory failure, and lung cancer, although all specialist interests will be considered and supported.
Across York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals, we offer a severe asthma clinic, TB clinic, lung cancer service, Long COVID clinic, Sleep/NIV service, and a Cystic Fibrosis service. We have recently launched a local Lung Cancer Screening Programme across the Trust and are working collaboratively across the primary and secondary care interface, as well as with the ICB and regional colleagues. This includes developing integrated approaches to respiratory care, such as the introduction of a new breathlessness diagnostic pathway. We are committed to reducing health inequalities within our patient population and would welcome applications from candidates with a specific interest in this.
