Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Portfolio Pathway (formerly known as CESR - Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once it has been awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.

Applications are welcome for the above Permanent, full time (40 hours per week) post based in the Western General Hospital.

The main remit will be to contribute to the general rheumatology service. The unit benefits from excellent relationships with colleagues in many specialties within a university teaching hospital environment. The department has a strong focus on clinical research and it is anticipated that the post-holder will take a leading role in developing the departments portfolio of clinical research in psoriatic arthritis.

The post will be based at the Western General Hospital in North Edinburgh. It is anticipated that the post holder will also undertake regular clinics at East Lothian Community Hospital in Haddington. It is possible that the post-holder may be required to work in other areas of NHS Lothian in the future depending on the development of Rheumatology services. The consultants clinical duties will be reviewed at least annually through job planning.
