About The Role

We are recruiting for a Multi‑Skilled Engineer with a specialism in Instrumentation & Controls to join our experienced Engineering and Facilities Team at our Hoddesdon site. In this role you will carry out timely, consistent and compliant engineering and maintenance operations across the Site, enabling the Engineering and Facilities Department to deliver an efficient and effective service to the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Efficiently conduct corrective and preventative instrumentation maintenance activities originating from the Computer Maintenance Management system.
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns.
  • Ensure that preventative maintenance schedules are completed on time.
  • Proactively identify maintenance plan improvements and omissions, working with the Engineering Workshop Supervisor to keep all maintenance PM plans relevant, technically correct and compliant.
  • Ensure all documentation of maintenance activities are to GxP standards in paper‑based records and the Computer Maintenance Management System and that accurate reports are generated.
  • Work on small projects where required, including design, installation and commissioning of minor systems (new or alterations).
  • Constantly seek new, innovative and cost‑advantageous methods of completing work without compromising safety or quality.
  • Maintain a sufficient stock of materials, equipment and parts to carry out requisite work; identify low stocks so restocking can be undertaken.
  • Ensure all work is carried out to the highest standards of safety and proactively address potential hazards and risks, reporting such to management for prompt action.
  • Liaise with all people that might be impacted by the work, affording them the opportunity where possible to minimise disruptions and keeping them informed of progress and expectation completion targets.
Candidate Profile
  • Formal Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent.
  • Post‑apprenticeship experience as an Instrumentation / Controls Multi‑Skilled Technician.
  • City and Guilds accredited or equivalent recognised formal qualification in a core or secondary engineering discipline is desirable.
  • Broad based knowledge and interest in engineered systems and maintenance.
  • Understanding of GxP principals.
  • Knowledge of temperature, humidity and pressure instrument loops, supporting BMS‑monitored HVAC, reactor systems, stability chambers/cold rooms and room pressure cascades.
  • Experience with Purified Water systems, Agitator speed sensors, MCERT flowmeters and VOC gas analysers is beneficial.
  • Troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
  • Good documentation, record‑keeping and ability to produce succinct reports.
  • Good interpersonal skills and customer focus.
  • Extremely safety conscious.
  • Helpful and responsive and committed to delivering the very best.
  • Team player while proactive and a self‑starter.
Desirable Requirements
  • GMP manufacturing equipment.
  • Recognised formal qualification in a secondary control discipline or equivalent experience in Control Systems.
  • Knowledge of high‑integrity PCS and PLC programming.
