Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Metabolic Bone Centre team located at the Northern General Hospital.

The Metabolic Bone Centre provides a high-quality diagnostic service, including the provision of densitometry and Vertebral Fracture Assessment imaging and seeing approximately 13,500 patients per year.

A Fracture Risk Assessment Service (FRAS) runs alongside specialised consultant-led metabolic bone clinics providing outpatient and day case services to the population of Sheffield and surrounding districts.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a part time (30 hours) Bone Densitometry (DEXA) Scanning Technologist to join our small team of dedicated scan technologists.

The role will require a science or health-related qualification at degree level and motivation to work in a healthcare environment.

The successful candidate will form part of the current scanning team performing Bone Density scans and requesting procedures according to the relevant departmental protocols.

Qualifications
  • Science or health-related degree or equivalent academic achievement
  • Registration with an appropriate Professional Body
  • ROS IR(ME)R certification for operators / referrers or equivalent training in radiation protection
  • Royal Osteoporosis Society Certificate of Competency in Bone Densitometry
Experience
  • Motivation to work in a healthcare environment
  • Experience of Working in a Metabolic Bone Centre
  • Knowledge of current health and safety regulations
  • Previous experience in a healthcare environment
