Driver – Category C

Location: Newport

Hours: Monday to Friday, 07:00–16:00 (40 hours per week)

We are currently looking for a Category C Driver to join our Newport depot. This is a busy, hands‑on role where you will be responsible for the safe and timely delivery and collection of Speedy hire equipment to customers across the local area. As a key part of our operational team, you will act as the face of Speedy, delivering excellent customer service while representing our values, professionalism, and commitment to safety.

About the role

Based in Newport, the Driver – Category C role supports the day‑to‑day delivery of Speedy hire equipment, including tools, plant, and specialist machinery. You will ensure equipment is transported safely, arrives on time, and is presented in excellent condition, ready for customer use. This role is vital to our operation; you will be one of the first points of contact for our customers, playing an important part in building strong relationships and delivering a consistently positive customer experience.

What you’ll be doing day to day
  • Delivering and collecting Speedy hire equipment to and from customer sites within the local area
  • Transporting a variety of tools, plant, and specialist equipment safely and efficiently
  • Carrying out daily vehicle checks to ensure vehicles are roadworthy, compliant, and safe to operate
  • Loading and unloading equipment using safe manual handling techniques and appropriate equipment
  • Ensuring all deliveries and collections are completed accurately, on time, and in line with customer expectations
  • Completing delivery paperwork and system updates, including proof of delivery and collections
  • Communicating effectively with customers, depot teams, and transport colleagues to manage schedules
  • Acting as a professional ambassador for Speedy at all times
  • Working in line with all health, safety, compliance, and ESG requirements, supporting Speedy’s Decade to Deliver strategy
What you’ll need to succeed
  • A valid Category C driving licence
  • Good knowledge of the local area
  • Experience driving within the UK
  • A strong customer‑focused approach
  • The ability to support your team and business unit in delivering Speedy’s ESG Strategy – Decade to Deliver
