The Dispatch Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient and timely dispatch of products to customers, ensuring quality standards and delivery schedules are met. Additionally, the role holder has overall responsibility for efficiency and productivity of the dispatch function. This role involves managing the dispatch team, coordinating with sales teams, and maintaining compliance with health, safety, and industry regulations.
- Plan and manage dispatch operations to ensure accurate and timely delivery of products to customers. Ensure KPIs are understood by all teams and targets are being met
- Monitor processes, people, and outputs to ensure tasks are conducted in the most efficient way possible, with overall responsibility for productivity
- Responsibility for allocated resources to ensure correct staffing levels throughout the season, which meet budget and delivery promise, recognizing fast-moving changes in workload demand
- Working closely with Buying and Stock Management teams to plan product intake and turnaround, including understanding and awareness of site held stock needs and transfers between sites
- Ensuring dispatch processes allow maximum efficiency within warehousing and picking/packing processes and recommend ERP system improvements accordingly
- Report on dispatch productivity metrics and identify areas of improvement and solutions
- Line management of staff including training and performance monitoring
- Manage warehouse, including Goods In and outside space to maximise use
- Conduct weekly site walks and managing actions to ensure they are completed in a timely manner
- Implementation of any new policies and procedures affecting the Operations department
- Ensure Health and Safety practices for allocated area are carried out as required including housekeeping, training, manual handling and risk assessments
Qualifications
- Previous experience of managing dispatch operations within Horticulture/FMCG/fresh product industries or similar
- Experience of ERP systems
- Working knowledge of CI methodologies
- Educated to A level (or equivalent or qualified by experience)
