The successful candidate will engage in software and hardware installations and configurations, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction. We are currently looking for a Desktop Support Engineer to support one of our clients based‑on‑site location Newcastle Helix, Draymans Way, Newcastle Upon Tyne.

This is a full‑time position working a 37.5‑hour week Monday – Friday. The ideal candidate will be required to have a flexible approach as overtime and on‑call duties may be required.

Due to the nature of our client's work the successful candidate will need to obtain SC Security Clearance.

Responsibilities
  • Working on a secure single person location with End User Compute support, with wider support team on sister locations throughout the UK.
  • Desktop / Laptop / VDI build, configuration and deployment to end users
  • Software installation / deployment
  • Asset and peripheral deployments
  • In depth investigation into issues to pass back to 3rd line support
  • Assisting the 2nd Line support team with laptop, desktop and VDI terminals support calls
  • Hardware installation / upgrade / break fix for desktop, laptop, and server
  • Smartphone support (Android & iOS)
  • VIP support
  • Service Desk cover as required
  • Assisting with customer projects
What we're looking for
  • Microsoft Windows 7 and 10 Operating Systems – Deployment, configuration
  • Support Microsoft Office 2010 onwards
  • Proven and demonstrable software and hardware troubleshooting skills, experience in a Deskside Support role
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SCCM and OS / Application deployment
  • Good verbal communication: ability to communicate to all levels
  • Good written communication: concise and accurate call logging, documentation, and email correspondence
  • Good time management / organisational skills
  • Work well independently or as part of a team.
  • Self‑motivated
  • Good problem solver
  • Proactive approach
  • Excellent customer skills a must for this position
