Creative Equity Apprentice – Channel 4

Location: Bristol

Start date: September 2026

Apprenticeship Programme

This apprenticeship is a full‑time role, with four days per week working in a Channel 4 department and one day per week devoted to formal learning. Sixty percent of the week is spent on site while forty percent is spent working from home.

Formal training includes workshops, tutorials, webinars, coaching and, in some cases, residential boot camps.

Meticulous training and a qualification (Business Administrator Level 3) are provided during the 15‑month course.

Eligibility
  • Must be 18 years old or over at the time the scheme starts; no upper age limit.
  • Need a Grade C (4) or above in Maths & English GCSE.
  • Cannot have already completed the equivalent or higher qualification.

Department Description

The Creative Equity team sits at the core of commissioning, working across all genres and platforms. Our mission is to enhance representation both on‑screen and behind the camera, promote greater inclusion, and ensure programming authentically portrays the diverse lives of everyone in Britain today, challenging stereotypes along the way. We identify talent and opportunities that align with our Commissioning Diversity Guidelines and collaborate with Heads of Departments to accelerate the development of talent, ideas and independent producers. We provide open‑door support and guidance to partners, advocating for equality and meaningful change.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide inclusion and diversity support to commissioning teams.
  • Offer administrative support, including meeting minutes, travel plans, and managing the team project diary.
  • Provide logistical support for events, booking rooms, creating invite lists and assisting outreach and networking events.
  • Track off‑screen talent from under‑represented backgrounds, maintaining career progression documents.
  • Assist project managers with research, grassroots organisations and local creative communities to support talent pipelines.
  • Offer administrative support for the Creative Diversity team newsletter.
  • Track weekly commissioning projects and ensure all relevant forms are sent.
Essential Experience & Skills
  • Verbal and written communication skills, including dealing with customers, team communication, emailing and creative writing.
  • Attention to detail, e.g. cash handling or proofreading coursework.
  • Organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks, planning events and balancing work with studies.
  • Understanding of and passion for Channel 4’s remit.
  • Maths & English GCSE Grade C (4) or above.
  • Strong administrative experience in a demanding, fast‑paced environment, handling confidential material.
  • Proven ability to prioritise, use initiative and manage busy schedules effectively.
  • Capability to balance office and remote work environments.
  • Passion for TV and media with a demonstrable interest in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in broadcasting.

Relocation

£24,328.00 per annum

Hybrid Working

From September 2023, C4 operates a 60/40 working pattern: three office days per week, with the flexibility to work from home the rest of the week.
