Job summary

A major civil engineering firm in the UK is looking for a Contracts Manager to oversee the successful delivery of multiple highways civils schemes. You will be responsible for leading site teams, managing relationships with key stakeholders, and ensuring project safety and quality. Candidates should have experience in managing civil engineering projects, strong knowledge of NEC contracts, and the ability to lead teams effectively.

Job description
Overview

As Contracts Manager, you’ll take ownership of multiple live schemes, working closely with National Highways and other key stakeholders to ensure successful delivery. You’ll be instrumental from early contractor involvement through to delivery, ensuring safety, quality, and programme targets are consistently met.

Duties
  • Drive the successful delivery of highways civils schemes from EDI stage through to completion
  • Build and maintain collaborative working relationships with National Highways and other partners
  • Lead site teams and manage supply chain partners, promoting a culture of safety and performance
  • Influence project planning and programming during pre-construction and EDI phases
  • Monitor and manage contractual programmes and cost forecasts in collaboration with the commercial team
  • Coach and develop your team, identifying training needs and supporting growth
  • Oversee the timely procurement of plant, materials, and sub-contractors
  • Support the Operations Manager in identifying and securing future work opportunities across the region
Person Specification

You will ideally have:

  • Proven experience managing multiple civil engineering schemes or a major infrastructure project
  • A formal qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline (desirable)
  • Strong knowledge of NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and build effective stakeholder relationships
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving and project delivery
