Job description

We believe in making decisions that are driven by purpose, passion, and people. As part of our in-house communications team within the wider Brand and Marketing function, we’re on a mission to tell powerful stories that connect with our customers and build brand love. AO.com is at the heart of our retail business, and we’re looking for a talented Consumer PR Executive to help us shout about it.

You’ll play a key role in activating and delivering our retail PR plans for AO.com. Reporting directly to Jess, our Consumer PR Manager, you’ll be responsible for securing strong, positive media coverage and collaborating closely with our social and ecommerce teams to drive cross-channel campaigns.

We’ve got some exciting projects on the horizon, so if you’ve got a nose for a great story and a passion for creating buzz, we’d love to hear from you.

Our people are our superpower, and we’re unstoppable when we’re together! We want your ideas to flow, and what better way to make that happen than being based onsite, 5 days a week, where our culture fuels creativity, collaboration and growth. If a £1 bet in the pub between two friends can become the UKs most trusted electrical retailer, imagine what else can be achieved when we we’re together!

Here's What You Can Expect To Be Doing
  • Driving the press office by managing daily proactive and reactive media relations with national and consumer press.
  • Supporting the Consumer PR Manager in executing the communications strategy to secure coverage, build external links, and boost brand awareness.
  • Collaborating with internal teams (SEO, Brand, Social, Content Marketing, Trading) to maximise impact across channels.
  • Proactively pitching and selling-in stories to top-tier media outlets.
  • Assisting with performance reporting and communicating results to stakeholders.
  • Writing press releases, comments, and other PR materials.
  • Brainstorming creative PR ideas and reactive opportunities.
  • Coordinating press photography, events, and visits.
  • Working closely with AO’s agency partners.
  • Building a strong understanding of the retail media landscape.
A Few Things About You
  • PR / marketing experience in a fast-paced environment (in-house or agency).
  • Experience working on PR campaigns for national consumer brands, with a portfolio of national coverage.
  • You’re a confident communicator with a flair for storytelling and a hunger for results. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and love working collaboratively to bring ideas to life
  • Strong media relations skills and the ability to build lasting journalist relationships.
  • Exceptional writing skills and a keen editorial eye.
