About the Role

The City is seeking a motivated and innovative person who has experience in policy writing, social planning, research and project management to join the City’s Community Development team as Community Development Planner. The role will utilise skills in community development, relationship building, project management, data analysis, strategic writing and advocacy to deliver social outcomes for our community.

The successful candidate will be able to formulate and implement community strategies, policies and procedures, delivered through sustainable relationships and partnerships, to strengthen the City’s community impacts and drive positive change.

Responsibilities
  • Developing, implementing and evaluating community plans, policies and procedures.
  • Managing strategic community development projects.
  • Organising and participating in community and stakeholder reference groups and networks.
  • Developing strategic relationships with government agencies, industry bodies, service providers and other key stakeholders.
  • Supporting the City’s social advocacy for priority areas of need.
  • Liaising with customers and stakeholders on community development matters.
About You

You will be an adaptable and collaborative community development professional, with specific skills and experience in community needs assessment, strategic community development and project management. You will thrive working in a busy and change‑driven organisation and positively contribute to the team’s culture.

Qualifications
  • Qualification in a relevant discipline such as community development, or equivalent.
  • Relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in establishing strong and effective partnerships with service providers and other key stakeholders to develop responses to community issues and opportunities.
  • Experience in research and delivering projects.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Advanced research and analysis skills.
  • Advanced organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing tasks.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
