Commissioning Engineer

NRL is currently recruiting a Commissioning Engineer to join one of our leading clients in their Nuclear Power Engineering and Technical Services team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a high-performing project team within a critical sector, supporting the delivery of complex engineering works on a key site within the UK's nuclear fleet.

You’ll work within a highly regulated environment and collaborate with a range of stakeholders to ensure the safe, timely, and efficient execution of engineering projects. Role - Commissioning Engineer (Mechanical or Process)
Location - Bristol
Salary - Up to £55,000 per annum
Key responsibilities will be:
  • Ownership of 2-3 radwaste systems, become an SME for those systems
  • Develop commissioning documentation relating to commissioning testing and system validation activities.
  • Contribute to design reviews to ensure layout of plant items and systems are in a manner that allows ease of commissioning
  • Assist in the detailed planning of commissioning activities and take ownership of a commissioning test program.
  • Take part in the execution of site commissioning activities to achieve successful and safe commissioning of HPC systems.
  • Analyse commissioning results and provide reports summarising the outcome of commissioning
  • Ensure that the commissioning process adheres to nuclear, environmental, and industrial safety regulatory requirements, incorporating international best practices in safety and technical excellence
  • Build successful collaborative relationships with project delivery team, site engineering, MEH and the plant operational organisation
Qualifications
  • A degree qualified or equivalent such as HNC and/or relevant experience in a relevant engineering discipline, in either mechanical engineering or chemical process engineering.
  • Experienced as a mechanical and/or process commissioning engineer
  • Experience of working in a highly regulated industry such as nuclear generation, utilities, oil & gas, or other heavy/manufacturing industries
  • A baseline Knowledge of the EPR design or other PWR/ Power station designs.
  • A Good technical background in process systems tests, including flushing, pump, and valve testing, etc.
  • Demonstrable history of working within safety and quality cultures.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to convey complex information to others.
  • Knowledge of Radioactive Waste systems or fuel route processes.
  • Strong experience in commissioning, maintenance and/or operations of Nuclear Island and specifically Radwaste systems
