Job Description

Support the lawyers within the Commercial Department by assisting with commercial property and corporate matters. This is a full-time role designed for an individual with a strong legal academic background who is keen to develop practical experience across both areas of work.

The position offers progression, hands‑on learning and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to high-quality legal work under appropriate supervision.

Legal Work and Case Support
  • Assisting solicitors with the progression of commercial property and corporate matters.
  • Preparing first drafts of legal documents, contracts, reports, and transaction documentation.
  • Conducting legal research and presenting findings in a clear and structured manner.
  • Reviewing and collating documentation from clients, agents, lenders and counterpart solicitors.
  • Supporting due diligence processes, including reviewing and summarising commercial property titles, leases, corporate documents and search results.
  • Assisting in the preparation of transaction bundles and completion documents.
Client and Stakeholder Interaction
  • Dealing professionally with clients and other solicitors on the telephone, by email and in person.
  • Providing clear, timely updates to clients within the scope of delegated responsibility.
  • Supporting colleagues in ensuring high standards of client care.
Administrative and Case Management Tasks
  • Opening, maintaining and closing files in accordance with firm procedures.
  • Ensuring accurate data entry and use of the firm’s case management system (Proclaim).
  • Undertaking administrative duties such as photocopying, scanning, filing and updating client details.
  • Maintaining organised file management to support supervision, compliance and risk management.
  • Assisting with the preparation of billing information and the collection of monies on account when required.
Professional Standards and Compliance
  • Ensuring confidentiality and security of all firm and client information.
  • Adhering to the Solicitors Regulation Authority requirements and the Firm’s Office Manual, policies, and quality procedures.
  • Supporting the department in meeting internal processes, including risk management, client care and file review requirements.
  • Contributing to the smooth running of the Commercial Department, including assisting colleagues during busy periods, holiday cover or sickness absence.

  • A strong academic background with a Law Degree or equivalent legal qualification.

  • Strong IT skills and a good working knowledge of Word and case management systems.
