Coordinate clinical placements and operations to support student success and equity in health education at Ara

The Clinical Placement and Operations Coordinator plays a pivotal role in supporting the Faculty of Health, Science and Sustainability by coordinating clinical placements and operational processes across the health and community portfolio, including nursing, midwifery, and medical imaging programmes. This role ensures seamless student experiences through effective engagement, administration, and communication with internal teams and external health providers. It also contributes to equity-focused initiatives, particularly for Māori and underserved communities, and supports the implementation of systems that enhance placement tracking and data management. The coordinator works collaboratively across the faculty to uphold Ara's values and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

  • A level 5 relevant qualification is preferred
  • Recent and relevant knowledge of the health system and tertiary education
  • Proven administration and co-ordination experience
  • Experience with development of systems and processes
  • Working knowledge of kaupapa and mātauranga Māori and its application in a tertiary context
  • Experience in providing pastoral care
  • Demonstrate practice in successfully engaging with communities from diverse backgrounds and identities, in particular Māori, Pasifika, Youth, International and people with disabilities.
  • Experience of preparing contracts and invoices
  • Experience in a tertiary setting
  • Experience in practice placement coordination
  • Proven experience building relationships within primary, mental health and medical surgical areas
  • A high level of computer literacy- Microsoft Office Suite, DBMS, adaptability to implementation of new systems
