We are currently looking for Class 1 Drivers to join our General Haulage team, based out of Preston. We currently have opportunities to work on Dayshift (Monday to Friday, Sunday to Thursday) or on Nightshift on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern.

Compensation details vary by shift pattern:

• Dayshift: Weekly dayshift hourly rate of £14.39* (Rates include non-taxable meal allowance of £1.00 payable per hour when in attendance at work.)
• Nightshift: Weekly nightshift hourly rate of £15.94* (Rates include non-taxable meal allowance of £1.00 payable per hour when in attendance at work.)

Nightshift Pattern (4 on 4 off) compensation:

• Nightshift Salary = £37,054.71 per annum*
• *Non-taxable meal allowance of £1873 included in above salary; meal allowance is payable when in attendance at work.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a professional and efficient driving service within our General Haulage team, undertaking deliveries and collections of products on behalf of Wm Armstrong Group.
• Carry out all duties associated with being a professional driver.
• Loading/unloading and securing loads.
• Deal with customers face to face.
• Keep in regular contact with the transport office team for updates on progress and manage customer expectations.
• Cross cover of work within other areas of the business as required.

Requirements

• Hold a valid UK Class 1 licence.
• Hold a current DCPC card and digital tachograph card.
• Experience and knowledge of the general haulage industry is preferred, but not essential.
• Ability to work unsupervised, or as part of a wider team, and be able to use your own initiative.
