Job Overview

Are you interested in a career in Childcare? We have an amazing opportunity to take on a Modern Apprentice for an excellent childcare setting in the Hillfoot Area. Working with children really is a career like no other. You have the chance to shape a young person's life, inspire their creative thought process and teach them skills they will use forever. Completing a Modern Apprenticeship will equip you with the skills and knowledge required to become a qualified Practitioner.

The successful applicants will be assisting senior practitioners and training under the general direction of the manager. This is a full‑time position.

Typical Responsibilities

• Setting up the play environment for a fun‑filled day of learning
• Implement planned learning experiences in line with the Curriculum for Excellence
• Keep children safe and well at all times
• Assist with snack, lunch and dinner
• Play outdoors in all weather

Training & Qualification

The Modern Apprenticeship takes candidates around 12 months to complete and you will be working towards an SVQ 3 Social Services Children and Young People qualification. This is a work‑based qualification; once completed, you will become a fully qualified Childcare Practitioner. You will be employed by the nursery and L&G Learning will support you through your training.

Applicants who have completed a Foundation Apprenticeship in a related field will get direct access to the interview stage. A head start is provided for those with a Foundation Apprenticeship in Childcare. Candidates must provide evidence of their qualification and demonstrate relevant skills gained from their placement.

Desirable qualifications: at least one National 5 qualification including English.
