Job description
Overview

Band 2 Catering Assistant WCH 28 hours per week. An opportunity has arisen at North Cumbria Integrated Care based at West Cumberland Hospital in the busy Catering Department. This post works 28 hours per week on a 4‑week rota with hours between 7 am and 7 pm, including Bank Holidays.

Responsibilities
  • Work on a ward taking temperatures of food and plating meals for patients.
  • Wash crockery and cutlery in an industrial dishwasher and clean all crockery.
  • Dispose of food waste and use industrial equipment.
  • Report faults and deal with customer complaints.
  • Assist with food preparation and general cleaning of equipment and areas within the Catering Department and ward kitchens.
  • Serve staff, visitors and patients in the busy Restaurant and coffee shop using a barista‑style coffee machine, a till and a card machine.
  • Follow food safety legislation and record accurate information.
Qualifications

The successful applicant must be able to work alone and effectively as part of a team, be physically fit, work on their feet for most of the shift and be able to work in both hot and cold environments. This is a physically demanding job and requires the ability to work in a busy work environment and carry out a wide range of general catering duties efficiently.
