Job description

We're looking for a highly motivated individual with an interest in learning a technical claims role within the insurance industry. This is an exciting opportunity to learn something new and start your career in insurance with us. You'll learn extensive product knowledge and advanced negotiation skills in a fast‑paced and rewarding environment.

As a Casualty Claims Handler, you’ll be responsible for making accurate and pragmatic policy and legal liability decisions, ensuring that our customers receive the best possible service. Your role will involve investigating complex claims, negotiating with third parties, and providing clear and concise policy interpretations.

At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) in the future. Away from home means either attendance at one of our office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events. We're also happy to consider flexible working arrangements, which you can discuss with Talent Acquisition.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Dealing mainly through Brokers, you'll be proactively managing a portfolio of claims up to £100K.
  • Carrying out comprehensive investigations into policy and legal liability for all newly allocated EL, PL and Disease claims to successfully negotiate a cost effective and speedy resolution.
  • Providing excellent customer service, whilst having a logical and measured approach to all tasks.
  • Dealing confidently and tactfully with people over the phone.
  • Be an active and visible coach, focusing on working closely with the team to focus on development.

What you’ll bring:
  • Proven negotiation skills and use of tactics in managing difficult conversations.
  • Relevant transferable skills with experience from the financial sector or overarching insurance preferred.
  • Experience of having a strong proactive approach to manage own work and commitment to customer service.
  • Able to make accurate and pragmatic decisions.
  • An understanding of the claims process.
  • Quantum assessment skills and working knowledge of cost implications.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
