JOB BAND: D

CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent, Full-time

DEPARTMENT: BBC Creative Diversity

LOCATION: Scotland or Northern Ireland

PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: up to £51,867 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience.

We’re happy to discuss flexible working. If you’d like to, please indicate your preference in the application – though there’s no obligation to do so now. Flexible working will be part of the discussion at offer stage.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

As part of the BBC’s new Creative Diversity model a network of Business Advisors will deliver inclusion priorities across commissioning and production. You’ll provide on-the-ground support, data insight, and project coordination to embed inclusive practices UK-wide.

WHY JOIN THE TEAM

The BBC is transforming its Talent and Inclusion team to ensure we have the right structure, skills, and expertise to deliver for audiences and meet the demands of a fast-moving media market. This will be a hands‑on, delivery focused role where you will work closely with production teams, support training and outreach, and help shape inclusive content across the BBC.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
  • Project Coordination: Plan, track, and deliver assigned Creative Diversity projects (such as inclusion initiatives, production pilots, and supplier engagement activities) to agreed timelines and budgets, escalating risks and delays where appropriate.
  • Inclusive Production Implementation: Support the roll‑out of the BBC’s Inclusive Production Principles by providing guidance, resources, and templates to production teams and suppliers.
  • Training Delivery: Assist in the coordination and delivery of Creative Diversity training sessions, working closely with the Creative Diversity Editorial & Training Lead, including scheduling, materials preparation, participant communications, and feedback collection.
  • Outreach & Engagement: Support the delivery of Creative Diversity outreach and engagement, working with the Audiences & Partnerships Lead, building connections with underrepresented audiences and producers, ensuring outreach is inclusive, impactful and aligned with wider engagement programmes.
  • Data Management: Collect, validate, and maintain production and commissioning diversity data (including Diamond and other BBC reporting requirements e.g. £80m creative diversity commitment), ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Track progress against operational plans and KPIs, working with 5050 divisional leads and producing status updates and reports for the Creative Diversity Operations Lead.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Build constructive working relationships with commissioning, production management, and independent production companies to support operational delivery of inclusion goals. Includes frequent visits to BBC sites, production sets and partner locations to provide on‑the‑ground support and ensure consistent application of Creative Diversity initiatives.
  • Administration & Logistics: Manage documentation and budget records to support the work of the Creative Diversity Leads and Head of Creative Diversity.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Proven experience coordinating projects in TV commissioning or production, with strong understanding of end-to-end workflows and the flexibility to travel to production sites (2–3 days per week).
  • Applied expertise in DEI across protected characteristics and underrepresented groups, with experience embedding innovation, new technologies and best practice into commissioning or production delivery.
  • Strong project and budget management skills, with demonstrable experience managing multiple priorities, tracking delivery milestones and reconciling spend against forecasts.
  • Advanced skills in data analysis and reporting, able to generate clear, accurate insights using industry DEI datasets (e.g. Diamond) to inform decision-making and monitor progress against KPIs.
  • Experience coordinating DEI training, events or learning programmes for creative and production professionals, including providing operational and logistical support at scale.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to present insights to senior editorial, production and external partners and to work independently while escalating strategically when needed.
