The Fundraising Trustee will provide strategic leadership and expertise to develop our fundraising capabilities. They will guide strategy, steward key relationships, and support the team in building sustainable income streams to expand our impact with young Londoners.

What difference will you make? Like many other grassroots charities, Renaissance Foundation relies on the expertise of talented advisors who believe in our mission. Your fundraising knowledge and networks could be transformative for us. This is your opportunity to use your professional skills to make a direct, measurable difference to a charity on the cusp of growth. You'll see the immediate impact of your advice as we build our fundraising infrastructure and donor relationships from the ground up. You'll work with a committed team and Board dedicated to young Londoners, with the satisfaction of knowing that every relationship you help us build and every pound we raise together goes toward changing young lives.

If you're passionate about youth development, excited by the challenge of helping a small charity scale its impact, and ready to share your fundraising expertise in this flexible, hands‑on advisory role, we'd love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

As a small charity with big ambitions, we are preparing to embark on the next stage of our evolution and significantly increase our reach to support more young Londoners. To achieve this, we must strengthen our fundraising capabilities and build the financial sustainability required to deliver and expand our programmes.

We're looking for a Fundraising Trustee who will be instrumental in shaping our future. This isn't a traditional trustee role with standard governance responsibilities; rather, it is a strategic advisory position that allows you to apply your fundraising expertise directly where it matters most.

You will provide leadership and hands‑on guidance across all aspects of our fundraising development. Working closely with our CEO, Head of Fundraising, and Senior Management Team, you will help us develop and implement a diversified, sustainable fundraising strategy focused on individual giving, major donors, high‑net‑worth individuals, and trusts and foundations.

We need someone who can open doors. Your networks and credibility will be invaluable in helping us identify, approach, and build trust with prospective supporters. You will use your expertise to advise on compelling messaging, propositions, cases for support, and donor recognition approaches that resonate with individual donors.

Your practical input will span from reviewing fundraising materials—mailings, digital campaigns, pitch decks—to helping cultivate and steward our existing high‑value donors, ensuring they feel valued and connected to our impact. You will also help us set realistic targets, monitor performance, and ensure our fundraising approaches are ethical, values‑aligned, and regulatory‑compliant.

Qualifications – Requirements
  • Experience in individual giving / major donor fundraising at a senior level, with a track record of securing significant gifts from individuals
  • Strong existing networks or the capacity to build networks with HNW individuals or philanthropic families
  • An understanding of donor stewardship, including ethical considerations, recognition, reporting and compliance
  • The ability to think strategically and contribute to fundraising strategy, campaigns and donor journeys
  • Executive and Board level experience in a charity or not-for-profit with an understanding of governance and fiduciary duties
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
Qualifications – Desired Additional Experience
  • Experience with digital / social media fundraising or individual giving campaigns leveraging content and promotion
  • Familiarity with fundraising regulations and best practice in the UK (major donor work, Gift Aid, tax efficient giving)
  • Understanding of supporters’ journey and donor segmentation
  • Experience of small or start‑up charities
