A leading environmental consultancy in Chester is seeking a BI Developer to strengthen business intelligence capabilities. In this role, you will translate complex business requirements into scalable BI solutions, utilizing your expertise in Power BI and SQL. The position is remote-first, suitable for candidates across the UK, with occasional office visits for stakeholder engagement. This is an opportunity to influence data usage and help shape the organization’s future.
Are you a technically strong BI professional who enjoys getting into the detail behind the data, not just producing dashboards? Are you someone who likes to understand how data is structured, how it flows through systems, and how it can be shaped to answer the right business questions? Are you confident working with senior stakeholders, able to challenge assumptions and help reframe problems rather than simply delivering what’s been requested?
We’re looking for a BI Developer to play a key role in strengthening and evolving Business Intelligence across APEM Group. This is a hands-on technical role for someone who wants to be hands on. Someone who will roll their sleeves up and take time to understand our data architecture, improving data models, and enhancing BI dashboards that are already in use across the business.
You’ll work closely with colleagues working in other business functions who are developing dashboards today. Supporting them to elevate the technical quality, consistency and scalability of our BI outputs. In addition to understanding business requirements yourself and building new dashboards. As the organisation continues to recognise the value of the data it holds, this role is expected to grow in scope, with a clear pathway into a BI Manager position over time.
This role also has a strong outward-facing element. You’ll be visible across the business, working with senior leaders to understand trends, challenge thinking, and help translate complex data into insight that genuinely supports decision-making, not just reporting for reporting’s sake.
We’re a remote-first organisation and are open to candidates across the UK. Proximity to Chester or Stockport would be helpful, with occasional travel to the office (typically a couple of times per month) for stakeholder engagement and collaboration with the wider data team.
