About the Role
As a Principal AWS Platform Engineer you’ll guide customers toward Cloud and DevOps excellence. You’ll design and implement scalable, resilient, secure platforms and lead a team of cloud consultants, fostering innovation and building Appvia's internal solutions team.

- Paired Technical Assessment with Engineering team
- Technical Interview deep dive with Practice Leadership
- Competency‑focused Final Interview with Engineering Leadership
Security Clearance Eligibility
- Hold active Security Clearance (SC) or be eligible for SC
- British Passport or Indefinite Leave in the UK (ILR)
- Resided in the UK for at least the last 5 years
- No criminal record
- No financial irregularities

- Passionate about new technology and automation, with experience leading Engineering teams in Agile and DevOps best practices
- Expertise in continuous integration and deployment practices
- Strong collaboration skills across technical levels
- Leadership and mentoring on industry best practices
- Project Management experience
- Excellent people skills, motivating teams toward common goals
- Bid work and Pre‑Sales Engineering experience
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with customers to define and execute cloud and DevOps adoption strategies
- Educate stakeholders on cloud‑native technology benefits and best practices
- Lead large, complex public cloud projects and select appropriate technologies
- Manage teams of platform engineers and consultants, fostering a collaborative culture
- Engage with enterprise clients to understand challenges and deliver tailored solutions
- Stay up‑to‑date with latest trends and technologies, contributing through blog posts and videos
Skills
- Platform Engineering: designing and implementing scalable, resilient, and secure platforms
- Automation: expertise in IaC practices, tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, scripting languages (Python, Ruby)
- Container Orchestration: hands‑on experience with Kubernetes, EKS, AKS, GKE
- Public Cloud Expertise: deep knowledge of AWS, Azure, or GCP services and best practices
- DevOps Mastery: CI/CD, containerisation, serverless technologies
- Networking: secure, scalable AWS network architecture (VPC, VPN, Load Balancers, Transit Gateway)
Experience
- Leadership on large public cloud projects
- Team management and mentorship fostering collaborative culture
- Enterprise customer‑facing experience with high satisfaction
- Continuous learning and industry involvement, contributing to knowledge sharing
Qualifications
- Certification in relevant cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP) at expert/professional level
- AWS Solutions Architect Professional
- AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty (highly desirable)
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
- Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKSS)
