Role Overview

Pickstock Homes Ltd is looking to recruit an experienced, proactive and motivated Assistant Quantity Surveyor who will help manage the delivery of 104 affordable apartments in Swansea.

The Assistant Quantity Surveyor will support the commercial and construction team in managing costs, contracts, and financial aspects of the construction project. This role involves assisting with cost estimation, procurement, valuation, and reporting to ensure the project is delivered within budget and in compliance with contractual obligations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in preparing cost estimates, budgets, and tender documents.
  • Support in analysing project drawings and specifications to determine material and labour requirements.
Procurement & Contract Administration
  • Help with sourcing suppliers and subcontractors, obtaining quotations, and preparing purchase orders.
  • Assist in drafting and reviewing contracts, ensuring compliance with company and legal standards.
Measurement & Valuation
  • Conduct site measurements and prepare interim valuations for works completed.
  • Assist in preparing payment applications and managing variations.
  • Support in preparing monthly cost reports and cash flow forecasts.
  • Assist in monitoring project expenditure against budget and reporting discrepancies.
  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Assist in identifying and mitigating commercial risks.
  • Liaise with project managers, site teams, and clients to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for audits and project close-out.
Qualifications & Skills
Education
  • Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field (or working towards).
Experience
  • 2–5 years of experience in quantity surveying or construction cost management.
Technical Skills
  • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam, or similar).
Soft Skills
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
