Here at Kirklees Council, we pride ourselves on being able to develop the very best talent we can find. Kirklees is preparing a new Local Plan that will deliver new homes and jobs to create the communities of the future and further our potential within the Leeds City Region whilst ensuring the creation of high‑quality places. The new Local Plan will have a key role in addressing the challenges relating to climate change and moving towards a net‑zero carbon future and supporting the implementation of our ambitious programme for the regeneration of our town centres.

You will work in our Planning Policy team preparing policies and proposals for the new Kirklees Local Plan. Part of the role includes working with Development Management by providing planning policy advice on applications and working across our services to support our exciting Blueprint regeneration plans for Huddersfield, Dewsbury and other centres.

You will also help to support local groups working on Neighbourhood Plans, respond to consultations, and undertake data gathering and monitoring. Good knowledge of national policy, guidance and legislation relating to Planning is therefore desirable.

We are proud of our university town, Huddersfield, stunning Pennine countryside and diverse towns and villages ranging from the historic mill town of Dewsbury to Holmfirth at the edge of the Peak District. At the heart of the Leeds City Region, we are actively working with partners to deliver a wide range of place making and transport opportunities allowing further opportunities to use and develop your skills.

BENEFITS
