Job summary

A leading educational publisher is seeking an Assistant Finance Business Partner to help deliver financial insights and support strategic planning. The Assistant Finance Business Partner role will be responsible in supporting the delivery of financial and commercial partnership across the business. You’ll provide timely and insightful analysis to guide effective decision-making and contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning. Working closely with stakeholders, you will help drive business performance improvements and ensure financial results align with organizational goals.

Key responsibilities in this role will include:

  • Support the delivery of the financial results for the financial year, tracking and understanding business risk and mitigation. Provide meaningful analysis of business performance and financial results.
  • Develop an understanding of the financial cost base and its drivers and relevant levers, and provide relevant insights, improving business understanding and presenting financial insights and analysis.
  • Further develop margin and cost reporting that assists the business in sound decision making and helps to drive continuous improvements.
  • Support the delivery of budget and forecast. Develop budget and forecasting models which will ensure a clear understanding of how financial targets will be delivered and the risks.
  • Support product launches, improving tracking mechanisms to ensure return on investment.
  • Perform ad‑hoc business and market analysis to assist in business strategy and decision making and provide day to day business partnering support.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders including editorial, product and sales teams
  • Work effectively as part of the Academic Finance team, the Academic Division and across the wider OUP group.

We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have/be:

  • Finance qualification or studying for a professional qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience

  • Able to analyse data to solve problems and make informed recommendations
  • Able to develop and maintain effective working relationships
  • Drive to work in a business partnering role
  • Ability to implement new ideas, with drive to push through
