Technical Sales Manager – Manufacturing

We are pleased to present an exciting opportunity to join our Manufacturing division as a Technical Sales Manager. This role involves leading the sales of Vacuum Chamber Manufacturing services across nominated regions, managing a dynamic portfolio of academic and industrial clients. With significant scope for growth and innovation, we are seeking a technically adept and results-driven individual to drive strategic development.

This is a full‑time, remote position based in Germany or surrounding countries. This will include regular travel across nominated territories in the UK and Europe – a company car or allowance is provided.

Summary

As the Technical Sales Manager – Manufacturing, you will be responsible for driving the sales cycle for custom vacuum chamber manufacturing, acting as the technical liaison and leader in developing sales strategies and capturing market opportunities. You will work closely with Regional Sales Managers and Product Specialists to enhance win rates, grow target GP, and ensure alignment with our strategic goals.

This role focuses on customer engagement, technical quoting, and opportunity development via CRM tools, with regular travel to visit customers and attend networking events.

Key Job Elements
  • The TSM supports the Sale of Manufacturing services, primarily focused on Vacuum Chamber Manufacturing.
  • The TSM will work in conjunction with the Regional Sales Managers (RSMs) and/or independently to design Sales Strategies necessary to maximise growing Sales, drive the Sales Cycle to improve Win Rates whilst maintaining Target GP. Coordination and communication with the Regional Sales Manager(s) (RSM’s) is critical, whilst equally communicating with the Manufacturing Product Specialist(s) as part of the same team.
  • Provides support to the RSMs to provide Technical Quotations, visits (in person or virtual) and customer presentations as required.
  • Can serve as primary sales point of contact, recorded and tracked via CRM.
  • Provides specific quotations for services and products via the Manufacturing Product Specialists.
  • Identify and present new markets and new market opportunities.
  • Understands and communicates the technical aspects of an opportunity to the operations team.
  • Leads RFQ submissions and biddings, ensuring response in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for territorial “Leads” along with inputting information into the CRM or mutually agreed upon tools.
  • Provide Marketing Intelligence via attending networking events and drive marketing campaigns.
  • Regular reporting on Sales Opportunities and Market Conditions with detailed analysis.
  • Travel to visit customers, attend networking events within the Academic and Industrial community. Occasional visits to Headquarters within the United Kingdom.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required

  • Qualifications in Engineering, Sciences or Equivalent.
  • Qualifications/detailed Technical Sales aptitude and customer networking skills.
  • A proven track record of successful Direct Sales or Sales Management Experience.
  • Well organised with strong communication, negotiation, Sales Tools (CRM) and Computer Skills (Inc.MS Office).
  • Travel to customer locations from their respective base of operations (30-60% travel required)
  • Location: Europe
  • Language Requirements: English: Required (professional proficiency for internal and external communication). German: Preferred (advantageous for customer engagement and technical documentation).

  • Experienced in Technical Sales, Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science
  • Knowledge of the Vacuum Industry
