Job description

An ESCO Sales/Business Developer is responsible for identifying, engaging, and securing energy efficiency and sustainability projects for the company. This role involves cultivating client relationships, creating persuasive proposals, and negotiating contracts. The goal is to drive sales, expand the company's ESCO services, and contribute to energy conservation and cost savings for clients.

Job Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify potential clients and opportunities through market research, networking, cold-calling, and other lead generation strategies.
  • Initiate contact with prospective clients, present the company's offerings, and tailor solutions to address client-specific needs.
  • Foster strong connections with decision makers in target organizations. Understand the needs, challenges, and goals of clients in order to effectively position our energy solutions.
  • Clearly communicate the value proposition and benefits of the company's products or services. Customize presentations to showcase how the offerings meet the client's goals.
  • Implement a sales strategy aimed at driving revenue growth. Prioritize opportunities, establish sales targets, and create action plans to achieve them.
  • Collaborate with teams to craft customized energy efficiency proposals that align with client requirements. Clearly communicate the value proposition, financial benefits, and environmental impact of our solutions.
  • Lead contract negotiations while maintaining a win-win approach by ensuring terms for both parties involved. Address any concerns or objections raised by clients and tailor proposals as necessary to successfully close deals.
  • Work closely with teams consisting of engineers, project managers, and analysts to ensure project implementation. Maintain communication with clients throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Represent the company at networking opportunities. Work to build a brand while contributing to enhancing the overall visibility and reputation of the organization.
  • Keep an eye on own performance indicators such as the progress of sales opportunities, achieving revenue goals, conversion rates, and market presence. Make sure to provide updates to management.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitive landscape, customer preferences, and energy regulations. Use this knowledge to adapt sales strategies and uncover new market opportunities.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Must possess a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Mechanical Degree would be a plus.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in a business development or sales role within the energy services industry, preferably with a focus on ESCO services.
  • Experience with HVAC Engineering desired, including building controls and management systems.
  • Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Deep knowledge of energy efficiency solutions, renewable energy technologies, and ESCO business models.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences. Ability to articulate the company's value proposition, listen to client needs, and provide solutions effectively.
  • Skilled in negotiating terms, contracts, and pricing to reach mutually beneficial agreements.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to work independently.
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with clients, colleagues, and partners.
  • Focused on achieving measurable results and willing to take ownership of performance.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage a sales pipeline, and meet deadlines.
