Business Development Manager Perishables

Synopsis
Jointly develop and execute Etihad Cargo’s commercial strategy for the FreshForward product portfolio. Overall responsibility for all aspects of the portfolio, including but not limited to, designing and executing a medium to long-term commercial strategy that brings Etihad Cargo into a leadership position within the perishables logistics sector. With a strong emphasis on commercial business development through sales steering among internal and external stakeholders, this position demands a candidate that will capture and cultivate market opportunities which will need to contribute to the global growth of FreshForward.

Accountabilities

  • Own and project manage all aspects of the FreshForward product, its performance, product specifications and features, with the support of dedicated product engineers.
  • Effectively and efficiently collaborate with commercial teams, service delivery teams, hub operations, revenue management and other supporting functions to ensure strategies are being delivered and standards are continuously being met for customers.
  • Become the subject matter expert in the perishables logistics sector within Etihad Cargo and represent the business at industry conferences and customer engagements.
  • Develop and steer, in conjunction with commercial teams, strategic and tactical business plans for FreshForward by way of a sales steering strategy, supporting the network design.
  • Manage and drive opportunities by working closely with the Regional General Managers, Cargo and their respective Area Managers to grow perishable market shares, revenues and yields.
  • Be the headquarters point of contact for global perishables RFQ’s, responsible for coordinating, collaborating, managing and responding to timelines; in line with commercial teams.
  • Build and maintain business critical relationships with key perishables logistics companies, importers and producers on a network level, as is relevant to the Etihad Cargo network; carrying out duty travel to support and drive the commercial priorities of the business.
  • Consistently identify new trends, technologies and service enhancements applicable to perishables portfolio that can enhance Etihad Cargo’s FreshForward offering.

Education & Experience

  • Minimum Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s preferred) with 7 years relevant work experience, including 3+ years in cool chain/perishables logistics with a focus on operations, sales, and customer management. Or minimum 7-10 years of relevant work experience if without degree with a focus on operations, sales, and customer management.
  • Proven track record in business development, contract negotiation, and executing joint business initiatives.
  • Strong analytical mindset with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
