Job description
Test Equipment Engineer

MACOM designs and manufactures semiconductor products for Data Center, Telecommunication and Industrial and Defense applications. MACOM sells and distributes products globally via a sales channel comprised of a direct field sales force, authorized sales representatives and leading industry distributors. Our sales team is trained across all of our products to give our customers insights into our entire portfolio.

The test equipment engineer will be responsible for maintaining test equipment and maintaining, building, improving test systems.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Purchase equipment. Ship and receive equipment.
  • Maintain test stations:
    • Master test station operation and instrumentation.
    • Troubleshoot problems with mechanical, electrical, and optical sub-systems.
    • Assist with instrument calibration and keep records.
    • Keep equipment inventory records.
    • Simple troubleshooting of problems with automation software and computers.
    • Return equipment to manufacturers for repair.
    • Do periodic maintenance service of equipment like motorized stages, recirculating chillers, optical spectrometers, probers, TECs, optics and etc.
    • Tune test station operation and station calibration.
    • Update instrument firmware.
    • Keep track of and replace consumable items like probe needles.
    • Maintain tools and tool sets.
  • Improve test station performance:
    • Observe operation weaknesses like slow operation.
    • Report these operations to test engineers.
    • Make suggestions for test system improvement.
  • Do engineering tests and make R&D measurements as directed by test engineers and development engineers.
Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering preferably in electro-mechanical, mechanical, or electrical engineering.
Other Special Skills
  • Mechanical assembly skills and mechanical and PCB fabrication skills.
  • Electrical/electronic troubleshooting skills like using a DMM and oscilloscope.
  • Some computer hardware knowledge.
  • General knowledge of MS Windows operating systems and computer networking.
  • Microsoft Office and other software applications like mechanical drawing, circuit design, programming languages especially NI LabVIEW.
  • Experience purchasing equipment or services from vendors and distributors.
  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-750 and 883.

The Salary Range for this position is $59,000 - $96,000. Actual salary offered to candidates will depend on several factors, including but not limited to, work location, relevant candidates’ experience, education, and specific knowledge, skills, and abilities.
