Job description

Overview

The Operations Manager creates and fulfills the monthly and quarterly production schedules that achieve planned revenue, labor margins, on-time delivery, and quality. This position gives proper direction to the plant to ensure customer commitments are fulfilled and is responsible for manufacturing operations. This leader is a change agent through short and long-term goals.

Responsibilities

• Implement strategic programs that improve labor efficiency, on-time delivery, continuous quality improvement and a safe workplace.
• Generate monthly reports to effectively communicate program contributions, lead-times, on-time delivery, continuous improvement efforts, and manufacturing needs
• Drives a corporate culture that focuses on facts, tangible results and behaviors
• Communicates job goals and expectations; plan, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures
• Produces products by maintaining or improving good manufacturing practices and enforcing quality standards
• Interfaces closely with Plant GM and Supply Chain Manager on key metrics
• Provides leadership needed to ensure the product quality meets specifications for all products shipped from the plant
• Ensures efficient utilization of plant staffing and equipment to meet productivity and cost effectiveness goals from stated AOP
• Assists with developing and leading a trained and motivated workforce
• Develop and implement with Plant GM an annual operating plan including capital improvements
• Behaves consistently with desired leadership values and characteristics
• Communicates and facilitates meetings effectively
• Identifies and resolves issues skillfully and in a timely manner

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verba

• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams
• Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently and on a team
• Ability to supervise is essential for success in this position
• Competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint

• Must be familiar with various measuring devices and analyzing information
• Good understanding of TPM, HR and Financial acumen is highly desired

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Mechanical Engineering or Operations
• Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience of related experience in Manufacturing Management preferred
• Experience, knowledge or trained in Six Sigma
• TPM experience preferred
