A local government body in Warrington is seeking a Young Persons Independent Domestic Abuse Advocate to support victims aged 12-17 of domestic abuse. This role involves providing trauma-informed interventions, safety planning, and advocacy within multi-agency settings. The ideal candidate will have experience working with young people affected by domestic abuse and be knowledgeable about the emotional impact of such experiences. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Warrington’s Domestic Abuse Hub as a Young Persons Independent Domestic Abuse Advocate (YPVA). This dynamic role focuses on supporting young people aged 12-17 who are victims of domestic abuse from family members or in their own dating relationships.
You will deliver trauma-informed, therapeutic interventions through both 1-2-1 and group sessions, helping young people understand the impact of abuse, develop healthier coping strategies, safety plans and build understanding of healthy relationships. The support will mainly be delivered face to from education settings and family hubs.
As a YPVA, you will provide holistic safety planning, complete risk assessments, advocate and represent young person’s voices in multi-agency meetings, ensuring appropriate support is in place. The YPVA will be instrumental in promoting early intervention and supporting recovery from abuse.
You will work closely with the CHIDVA (Children’s Independent Domestic Violence Advocate) and DA & Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) worker to identify local trends and deliver targeted training to professionals across education, health, police, and other multi-agency partners. Your work will help raise awareness of the signs of abuse in young people’s relationships and improve safeguarding responses.
The role will also work with young causing harm and support them to adopt healthy behaviours.
You will work closely with children’s services, education settings, and youth service and a wide range of agencies to champion the needs of young people affected by domestic abuse.
