Job summary

A leading utility company in Belfast is seeking an Interim Operations Accountant for a 12-month contract. This role involves managing pricing elements, costing, and financial analysis to support profitability. Job description
Interim Operations Accountant - Belfast

12 Months Contract - Immediate start

Salary up to £45k

Role based fully onsite in West Belfast

The Role

You will be responsible for all elements of pricing including tenders, costing including preparation and update of standard costs, profitability analysis to SKU level, all stock valuations for month and year end and other month end related and adhoc tasks.

What you'll be doing
  • Creating estimates for new and existing products; utilising information from sales and NPD to collate and following up for additional as required.
  • Liaising with production, purchasing, R&D and planning to gather information concerning material, production speeds, processes and pallet builds to compliment cost
  • Verify actual costs of produced products to ensure accuracy against estimates
  • Ongoing monitoring of material costs and changes to support revision of estimates as required
  • Regular review/analysis of profitability of all SKUs and investigation when negative or reduced to understand the reason and adjust pricing accordingly.
  • Monthly running and reviewing of P&L by item report to support profitability of all SKUs
  • Running and reviewing of completed jobs report to assess costs and ensure accuracy and update or correct for any data issues
  • Preparation and ongoing management of standard costs and upload to Sales BI tool
  • Annual review and update of machine rates
  • Verification of actual costs per job compared with estimate model and subsequent detailing of variance explanations or update of estimate if required
  • Month and month YTD report running for revenue
  • Running, formatting, reviewing and updating of monthly finished goods report for provision to Financial Controller for month end reporting
  • Compilation of monthly WIP and Finished Goods movement reporting
  • Compilation of Board Type Summary report to support materials analysis
  • Compilation of production and sales data for monthly SOFI regulatory reporting
  • Costing of materials for annual budgeting process (AOP)
Essential Criteria
  • Relevant experience working with costing and modelling of pricing, ideally in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven competency in complex Excel spreadsheets including analysis and management of large volumes of data
  • Experience in month end process
  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs to include GCSE English Language and Mathematics Grade C and above (or equivalent)
  • Accuracy, ability to plan, organise and work to deadlines
  • Using own initiative and judgement to make decisions
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Computer literate and competent in the use of the Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Costing and supply chain accounting
Desirable Criteria
  • Part qualified Accountant
