Job description
Services Welfare Officer

Salary of £24,355 per annum, rising to £26,651 after successful completion of a 6‑month probationary period.

Location: Based at one of the military bases within the UK, with relocation to a new site every two years.

Hours: 36 hours per week over 6 days, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide impartial welfare support to service personnel and make referrals to the Chain of Command or appropriate agencies when needed.
  • Ensure the smooth running of Services Welfare Centres, maintaining high standards in operations, activities, and health & safety.
  • Offer insight into morale by compiling monthly statistics and supporting the Chain of Command.
  • Build strong relationships with welfare agencies and attend welfare meetings.
  • Represent Services Welfare at formal functions, exhibitions and events.
  • Occasionally deliver induction presentations and attend training courses.
  • Work flexibly, including occasional out‑of‑hours support.
Job Requirements
Essential
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with young adults
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays
  • Self‑motivated, adaptable and able to work independently
  • Willingness to relocate and live in military accommodation away from home for extended periods
  • Full UK driving licence and UK passport
Desirable
  • Relevant experience (e.g. youth work, social work or teaching)
  • Experience networking with agencies
  • Knowledge of the military environment (although not essential)
