Job summary

A manufacturing company in Mildenhall is seeking a Workshop Supervisor to manage a team of Welder/Fabricators. Key responsibilities include overseeing production schedules, ensuring quality and safety, and fostering team performance. The ideal candidate will have experience in a manufacturing environment and a Level 2 City & Guilds qualification in MIG Welding or be prepared to obtain it. Do you have a Level 2 City & Guilds in MIG welding or hands-on welding and supervisory experience? We are seeking a Workshop Supervisor, where you’ll manage a hardworking crew, oversee quality and safety, and help drive continuous improvement.

Department

Operations – reporting to Operations Manager

Hours

41.25 hrs per week on a 4-week rota basis. Monday to Friday, working 1 in 4 Saturdays

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of Welder/Fabricators and Assembly team
  • Promote a strong health & safety culture, delivering Toolbox Talks and ensuring compliance.
  • Oversee production schedules, monitor quality, and drive efficiency.
  • Manage team performance, recruitment, and training, fostering a high-performing workforce.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to improve processes and optimise productivity.
  • Maintain an adequate stock level within the department, ordering resources as required.
Person Specification
  • Experience working in a production/manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with drawings and managing production schedules
  • Experience of managing and leading a team
  • Ideally a Level 2 City & Guilds qualification in Metal Inert Gas Welding or an equivalent qualification or:
  • Previous welding and people management experience and prepared to complete the qualification
