Job summary

A leading rail technology firm in Bristol seeks a Wheel Lathe Technician to maintain and repair rolling stock assets. The ideal candidate will operate a wheel lathe and ensure compliance with operational specifications. Requirements include an M & E ONC or equivalent apprenticeship and a strong foundation in mechanical and electrical disciplines. The position offers a competitive salary of £43,375 plus allowances, and a range of benefits, including a pension plan and private medical insurance, within a diverse and inclusive work environment.

Qualifications

  • Sound knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Good communication skills to liaise with teams and external personnel.
  • Ability to work effectively in diverse teams.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake maintenance and repair on Hitachi rolling stock assets.
  • Operate and maintain the wheel lathe.
  • Carryout wheel turning for Hitachi and third-party rolling stock.

Skills

Sound knowledge of rules and regulations
Good written and verbal communication skills
Good team worker

Education

M & E ONC or served apprenticeship with mechanical, electrical disciplines
Engineering based NVQ level 2 and 3

Tools

Intermediate IT skills – typically Word, Excel
